  1. Member of a Christian Protestant sect, the
  2. Moravian Brethren. An episcopal church that
  3. grew out of the earlier Bohemian Brethren, it
  4. was established by the Lutheran Count
  5. Zinzendorf in Saxony 1722. Persecution of the
  6. Bohemian Brethren began 1620, and they were
  7. held together mainly by the leadership of
  8. their bishop, Comenius. Driven out of Bohemia
  9. in 1722, they spread into Germany, England,
  10. and North America. In 1732 missionary work
  11. began. There are about 63,000 Moravians in
  12. the USA, and small congregations in the UK
  13. and the rest of Europe. It is an unworldly
  14. practice, in doctrine close to Lutheranism,
  15. with a simplified church hierarchy and
